The Burns Night Celebration: Food, Drinks, and Recitals

A lot of people around the world give tribute to one of the most known poet which is Robert Burns. May it be the mainland of Scotland, the United Kingdom, or even the people of England celebrating the Burns Night London bridge, Burns is very much respected. For this reason, the Burns Night supper is held every 25th of January, which is his birth date. This tradition was started by Burns’ friends themselves until it expanded into a nationwide celebration and some other countries also celebrating the tradition.

Food

The main fish of the Burns Night supper is the iconic Haggis. This food is made from s Sheep’s heart, liver, and lungs mixed with onions, spices, salt, suet, and oatmeal. Different kinds of recipes exist for the Haggis. The most common drink for the Burns night is the Whisky. Some people say that adding some water into the whisky will only dilute the drink. However, other say that adding water into the whisky improves the overall taste. The choice of adding water is all entirely up to your preferences.

Whisky is indeed a traditional drink for the Burns Night. However, other meals and dishes for the supper actually include whisky into their ingredients. Some dessert ingredients are being diluted with whisky. Other main course dish for the supper also includes being added with whisky. A Burns Night celebration cannot be completed without recitals. The night is primarily celebrated in honor of Robert Burns, the national poet of Scotland.
